Mr Kwek Boon Siang, Deputy Director, Home Team Psychology Division
Boon Siang is currently a principal psychologist leading the Crime and Forensic Psychology team at the Home Team Psychology Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore. He is also an associate faculty member of the Singapore University of Social Sciences teaching and supervising students from the Master of Psychology (Forensic Psychology) Programme and Bachelor of Public Safety and Security Programme.
He has more than 15 years of experience working in the Singapore Prison Service, conducting forensic risk and needs assessment and rehabilitation programmes for youth, sex, and violent offenders. He also has an interest in acute crisis mental health interventions for frontline law enforcement and emergency response officers, and the community.
He is currently pursuing his part-time PhD which examines the impact of forensic risk and needs assessment interviews on sex offenders’ treatment readiness at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. In 2016, he graduated from the same institution with a Master in Applied Psychology (Counselling Psychology) and was awarded the Applied Psychology Award - Gold Medal.
